About Magazines West
The Magazines West Conference, or MagsWest, is British Columbia’s only conference for magazine professionals. MagsWest is organized by the Magazine Association of BC in consultation with its members and the local publishing industry.
This year, MagsWest runs from September 14-18 and September 21-25, with one online session each day at noon PT via Zoom. Programming for 2020 includes:
- 1 keynote manifesto by Erin Millar of Discourse Media
- 8 webinars: 5 one-hour (or one-hour plus) presentations, a three-hour workshop, a discussion, and a free Q&A session about Canada Periodical Fund’s Aid To Publishers program
- 1 revenue diversity “doctor” that you can register for a half-hour one-on-one consultation with on September 15 and 17 (2 each day)
We hope you can join us!
We will send you a Zoom link when you register that you can use to attend that week's sessions.
If you've never used Zoom before, we recommend testing it yourself at least a day before by going to the zoom.us website to make sure your computer can handle the software.
It is. Please let us know who will be attending in your place as soon as possible by emailing exec@magsbc.com as we will not be admitting anyone who does not appear on our registration lists into our Zoom sessions.
Sylvia Skene, executive director of the Magazine Association of BC, can be reached via exec@magsbc.com or 604-688-1175 (office).
Please don't. We're keeping registration costs low so everyone can attend who wants to, and all revenues we receive go towards our great programs and services.
If someone you know is interested, please encourage them to register.
If you or someone you know cannot afford to pay for registration, you or they can email Sylvia Skene, the executive director, at exec@magsbc.com who will send a link to register for free.
